Turquoise and blue beaded stud earrings

$60.00
These handmade bead embroidered earrings are lightweight, eye catching, and comfortable to wear. They provide big impact without the weight or pull on your ears.

I've handcrafted the center focal cabochons from polymer clay. These cabochons feature a gorgeous lined pattern in turquoise, pale green, and a dusky blue, with a few faint streaks of navy. The polymer clay is also lightly textured into a lined pattern, and the peaks have been highlighted with a subtle green shimmer that catches the light when you move.

The cabochons have been topped with artist-quality resin. While the polymer clay is textured, the resin creates a shiny, mirror-perfect finish. (Please note: I do not use UV resin in any of my work. While UV resin cures quickly, it also tends to yellow very quickly, affecting the look and longevity of the final piece. For this reason, I only use a slow-curing doming resin proven to resist yellowing and discoloration. It takes longer to make, but the results are worth it!)

The cabochons are surrounded by faceted turquoise-colored crystal that provide just a bit of sparkle. For the beadwork I've used high-quality Japanese seed beads (Miyuki brand) in size 11/0 and 15/0, in matte blue and shiny turquoise. I love the contrast between the finishes in the edging!

The beadwork is backed by buttery soft 100% Canadian leather. The leather provides the beadwork with strength and durability, as well as ensuring the earrings wear comfortably against your skin. I buy my leather as scrap offcuts from a local business, which reduces waste while providing my customers with top quality leather. The leather used in this pair is a gorgeous bright teal.

I've used hypoallergenic earring posts made from implant grade ASTM F67 titanium, which is nickel-free and better for most sensitive ears than sterling silver. The posts have been paired with a wide, comfort-fit push backing. The earring post is also set behind the leather backing (not glued or stitched on top), providing greater durability and comfort during wear.

Like most of my beaded jewelry, this pair of earrings is one-of-a-kind and won't be duplicated.
