Red and gold beaded stud earrings
$60.00
These red and gold bead embroidered earrings are bold, eye catching, and comfortable to wear. They provide big impact without the weight or pull on your ears.
I've handcrafted the center focal cabochons from polymer clay. These cabochons feature a gorgeous chevron pattern in gold, red, black, and a warm brown. The surface of the clay was liberally dusted with a fine gold glimmer, making these shimmer and shine as you move. From some angles you'll see mostly gold -- then you turn and the chevron pattern becomes clear!
The cabochons have been topped with artist-quality resin that creates a shiny, mirror-perfect finish. (Please note: I do not use UV resin in any of my work. While UV resin cures quickly, it also tends to yellow quickly, affecting the look and longevity of the final piece. For this reason, I only use a slow-curing doming resin proven to resist yellowing and discoloration. It takes longer to make, but the results are worth it!)
The cabochons are surrounded by red matte faceted crystal. While most crystal adds sparkle, the matte finish on these crystal beads has soft, almost velvety look. For the beadwork I've used high-quality Japanese seed beads (Miyuki brand) in size 11/0 and 15/0, in metallic gold and matte red. I love the contrast between the finishes in the edging! The metallic beads are Miyuki Duracoat, which is a high-quality bead with an extra protective coating to prevent the beautiful gold color from rubbing away.
The beadwork is backed by buttery soft 100% Canadian leather. The leather provides the beadwork with strength and durability, as well as ensuring the earrings wear comfortably against your skin. I buy my leather as offcuts from a local business, which reduces waste while providing my customers with top quality leather. The leather used in this pair is a gorgeous bright red.
I've used hypoallergenic earring posts made from implant grade ASTM F67 titanium. These posts are nickel-free and better for most sensitive ears than sterling silver. The posts have been paired with a wide, comfort-fit push backing. The earring post is also set behind the leather backing (not glued or stitched on top), providing greater durability and comfort during wear.
Like most of my beaded jewelry, this pair of earrings is one-of-a-kind and won't be duplicated!
