The pendant features a center focal cabochon handcrafted from polymer clay and topped with artist quality resin for a shiny, mirror-perfect finish. The polymer clay has been textured with a honeycomb pattern, and dusted all over with a beautiful gold sparkle. I love the depth of this piece!
The central cabochon is surrounded by glittering gold crystal that catches the light as the pendant moves, and edged with high-quality black seed beads. I've beadwoven a bail using black Miyuki two-hole beads, crystal, and seed beads. The shape of this bail reminds me of a flower just opening.
The beadwork is backed by buttery soft deerskin leather. The leather provides the piece with strength and durability, as well as ensuring comfort if the pendant is worn against your skin. I buy my leather as scrap offcuts from a local Canadian business, saving even these small pieces of hide from the waste stream while providing my customers with top quality leather. The leather backing for this pendant is black.
The necklace is made from round, black glass beads, separated by black seed beads – with a few gold crystals added to ensure some captivating sparkle. The necklace is strung on a strong and flexible nylon-coated stainless steel beading wire, and is finished with a solid brass lobster clasp. The pendant is not fixed in place but cannot slide down the beaded necklace, which ensures that the pendant always hangs in front and the clasp stays at the back.
Like almost everything I make, this necklace is entirely one-of-a-kind and won’t be duplicated.
